Day 14. Rocky Mountains to Santa Monica Pier

The beginning of the next ride?

The beginning of the next ride?

All the riders were apprehensive starting today because we knew it was the last day of an amazing trek. Little did we know the delights ahead as we left the industrial heartland of Nevada ( read trucks and motorways) to launch into a 3 hour twisted mountain assault. It was hard to wipe the smiles off our faces as we leant the bikes into 2nd and 3rd gear turns passing 7,000 feet and then rocketing over 8,000 feet.

Finally our feet hit the ground literally and we hurtled into 6 lane snarly LA traffic with the dexterity of surgeons. Before long we had Santa Monica pier in site and the thump of the timber board walk echoed the chorus of v twin Harleys burbling over the demure throb of BMW pistons.

The job was done.
